Sunday Workshop @ the Fridge DC

Sunday’s workshop on December 18th was a hit with lots of great artwork from our Project Dispatch artists! Special thanks to Decoy from the Fridge for not only contributing to the postcard pieces but also for running the class and providing art supplies. Some of these new works included come from Kristoffer Tripplaar’s new Post Office Project, be sure to check it out here

All of the work seen below was created in the two hour class and will be mailed out to a few lucky Project Dispatch subscribers! Happy Holidays!

This is the best time to think about subscribing to Project Dispatch! Why? Because SATURDAY is our opening at The Fridge, where you can not only see our large scale works and subscribe to artists by purchasing tiny packages off of the wall BUT ALSO purchase one time surprise artworks for only $50. You will also be able to view and order copies of our 2011 artist portfolio.

We are so excited to announce our upcoming exhibit at The Fridge!

PART AND PARCEL

OPENING: DECEMBER 10, 8-11 PM

Work by Frank Adams, Keli Anaya, Deborah Anzinger, Chris Chen, Rachel England, Jessica Ford, Elizabeth Graeber, Becca Kallem, Chandi Kelley, Regan Kireilis-Helms, Stephanie Kwak, Jon Lee, Dana Maier, and Kristoffer Tripplaar

The Fridge, 516 8th Street SE, REAR ALLEY

The expression “part and parcel” is used to reference something that must be done or accepted as a part of something else. Without the venue to sell works on a small scale, many artists wouldn’t have the means to create some of their more substantial works. Part and Parcel is an opportunity to showcase large scale works by Project Dispatch artists while emphasizing the importance of the subscription. We will be displaying one piece next to each large work that will be wrapped in brown paper to represent the subscription. Patrons will be able to purchase the larger work or take a risk on the smaller, wrapped piece by the same artist. These smaller works will be the beginnings of subscriptions, but will remain unopened until after they are purchased. By showing these seen and unseen works alongside each other, we want to emphasize that the project is an integral part of the practice for the artists involved.

Project Dispatch Goes to Baltimore!

We were thrilled to be a part of Hampdenfest this year, and set up an awesome mini gallery featuring work by Project Dispatch artists. We also had raffles for free works of art, artist zines, AND launched our 2011 Artist Portfolio (which is available for purchase here ). If you missed it, the pictures will just have to do until next year!
